SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE 8 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
This morning, a total of 70 migrants reached the island of El Hierro aboard a canoe that departed several days prior from an undisclosed location along the African coastline, as per information from the Red Cross and the Emergency and Security Coordinating Centre (Cecoes) 1 -1-2.
The cayuco was discovered shortly after half past nine this morning and was accompanied by a Civil Guard patrol vessel, which guided it to the port of La Restinga, where they disembarked just after ten o’clock.
Among the 70 migrants, there are 64 men and 6 women, including 11 minors. Upon their arrival at the port, they received assistance from personnel of the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) and Primary Care, along with volunteers from the Red Cross, and none required hospital transfer.
In total, 138 migrants have arrived on the island today, as another cayuco reached earlier this morning carrying 68 individuals, all of whom were in generally good health.
