The La Laguna City Council has issued a tender for a contract pertaining to the supply and installation of urban furniture and amenities within the municipality. This initiative considers the unique characteristics of each neighbourhood to ensure the quality of the public spaces available in the city. The overall budget totals 705,321.90 euros (inclusive of IGIC), to be executed from this year until 31 August 2027, with the contract split into two lots as detailed in the contract specifications.
Ángel Chinea, the Councillor for Works and Infrastructure, underscored the significance of this tender, stating it “will aid in the renewal of our public furniture and enhance the appearance of our streets, squares, parks, and other areas for the enjoyment of La Laguna’s citizens and the many visitors the city attracts.”
“These types of procedures are revised annually, taking into account the needs and specific characteristics identified in each district or neighbourhood, as well as the insights we receive from community groups, who are the primary beneficiaries of these improvements,” the mayor elaborated.
The first lot, boasting a budget of 441,182.20 euros, encompasses the supply and installation of a total of 139 benches featuring various styles and materials, in addition to three sets comprised of a table and benches, 81 litter bins (also in assorted styles and materials), 13 planters, and 145 bollards.
In contrast, the second lot, with a budget of 264,139 euros, covers the supply and installation of urban amenities in residential areas, including three basic pergolas, 12 triangular shade sail awnings, six aluminium masts to adjust both height and inclination of the shade sails, and elements for outdoor gyms, which will also feature fitness equipment designed for individuals with reduced mobility. Additionally, this lot includes two water fountains, two bicycle racks with capacity for seven bicycles each, two canopies with a bench, and 13 parking spaces.
It is important to note that this contract excludes specific furniture and equipment for the historic centre; instead, those details are included in the maintenance contract for roads and public spaces, which is currently under review. This distinction arises from the unique characteristics of the historic centre compared to the other areas of the municipality.
