Santa Úrsula is set to revive its patron saint festivities this year after being cancelled in 2023 due to the forest fire that ravaged Tenerife and impacted the locality. Consequently, the Town Council has chosen green as the dominant hue in the event programme and poster design, symbolising hope and the recovery of the mountainous area.

This was emphasised yesterday by the mayor, Juan Acosta, during the unveiling of the festive programme. He noted that the candidates for the titles of children’s queen and mister, queen and first lady will remain the same as last year, due to the inability to hold various galas. Similarly, the reading of the proclamation will once again be entrusted to Manuel Dorta Hernández, who will formally commence the celebrations. This event is scheduled for October 10 at 8:00 p.m. in front of the church of Santa Úrsula.

The mayor was joined by the parish priest, Sebastián García, and the Festival councillor, José Feliciano López. The latter revealed that a significant innovation this year will be the inaugural virtual reality festival, allowing participants to engage with various sensations, games, and interact with the environment through special goggles. This event will occur on October 21 at 11:00 a.m. in the Plaza de Santa Úrsula.

Another key update is that three artists will perform at the main concert of the festivities, unlike previous years which featured only one. Therefore, on Saturday the 12th, DJ CrisG, Merche, and the band Ni un pelo de tonto will take to the stage at the festival venue located on Avenida de Las Palmeras. Tickets will cost 3 euros if bought in advance at the old Town Hall or 5 euros if acquired at the ticket office on the day itself.

The programme further includes a Gastronomic Fair, a municipal folklore showcase, the IX edition of ‘I am one of them’, which aims to support the Breast Cancer Association of Tenerife Ámate, a special concert for the 31st anniversary of the Ernesto Beteta Cultural Musician Association, traditional wrestling on municipal grounds, the International Day of the Elderly, and religious ceremonies honouring Saint Úrsula Virgin and Martyr, as well as Our Lady of the Rosary. In this regard, the parish priest remarked that the municipality will also host the mass on Saturday, October 12, dedicating it to the Virgin of Pilar.
