The Tegueste City Council, in collaboration with the Primary Sector Department and the Tegueste Winegrowers Association (Avite), is set to host its “II Adobo Gastronomic Meeting and Wine” this Saturday, October 5, commencing at 1:00 p.m. in the Plaza de El Socorro. This event is open to the public, providing an opportunity to sample this traditional dish from Tegueste, crafted using age-old recipes from the local residents.
Mayor Ana Rosa Mena emphasises the overwhelming response received during the inaugural edition, stating that “this is a distinctive chance to celebrate the culinary richness of our town with a dish that is emblematic of Tegueste.” She further adds, “Every family possesses their own recipe, which makes this event particularly special, as we’ll have the chance to savour the various adaptations that families have made to the dish over time.”
“This second edition brings exciting updates. As is customary, we will complement the adobo with superb wines from Tegueste, thanks to our Winegrowers Association (Avite), and attendees will have the chance to view the presentation ‘From the pig to the andars,’ where locals who are participating that day will let us sample their marinades,” highlights Primary Sector councillor, Julián Rodríguez, who also points out “the rich culinary tradition of the municipality that is beautifully showcased in this dish.”
The event will also feature a musical performance by the band Cerca del Trópico, beginning at 3:30 p.m., thereby solidifying its role as a key highlight in the cultural and gastronomic calendar of the village.
