SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE 3 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Mayors and councillors from over 50 municipalities across the nation will convene from October 7 to 11 in the Teide National Park to partake in the XXVIII AMUPARNA Conference (Association of Municipalities with Territory in National Parks).
The event will be formally inaugurated on Tuesday at the Telesforo Bravo Visitor Centre, located in the municipality of La Orotava; following the opening ceremony, participants will explore the area.
After the lunch interval, attendees will reconvene at the Telesforo Bravo Centre for the first segment of presentations, which will address issues such as light pollution in protected natural areas and the impact of volcanoes on the national parks of the Canary Islands.
On Wednesday morning, a trip to the Teide National Park is scheduled, where participants will visit highlights such as the Mirador de la Ruleta, the Roques de García, the Parador de las Cañadas del Teide, the Portillo Visitor Centre, and the Mines of San José, among other notable locations.
The afternoon will feature a whale watching excursion in the special conservation zone of the Teno-Rasca marine strip.
On Friday, the general assembly for members will take place, culminating in the afternoon with the closing ceremony, which will include the presentation of the AMUPARNA 2024 Awards.
These awards recognise local entities that implement initiatives aligned with the association’s aims, focusing on environmental conservation and the sustainable development of communities situated within national parks.
