The Department of Public Works, Housing and Mobility of the Canary Islands Government, via the Canary Islands Housing Institute (ICAVI), has sanctioned the administrative contracting file for the development of the fundamental project and construction of 59 homes publicly promoted in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona, located in Tenerife.

The director of ICAVI, Antonio Ortega, has emphasised the significance of this undertaking for Granadilla de Abona and stated that it represents “another step in the Government of the Canary Islands’ commitment to facilitating access to adequate housing for all residents.”

“Such initiatives address the pressing need to expand the public housing stock across the Islands, particularly in areas like Granadilla, where demand is increasing. With these 59 new homes, we not only deliver housing solutions, but we also enhance the quality of life for those who require it most,” Ortega asserted.

The project encompasses the construction of the residences alongside the preparation of subprojects associated with electrical systems, fire protection measures, thermal installations, plumbing, sewerage, and telecommunications. Furthermore, construction management and health and safety coordination are included throughout the implementation process. The total expenditure amounts to 519,158.05 euros, inclusive of IGIC, allocated into two lots.

The first lot, pertaining to the Cuevas de Cho Portada site, will entail an investment of 395,763.84 euros, while the second lot, designated for the Poncela site, will receive 123,394.21 euros.

With this endorsement, the Government of the Canary Islands reiterates its dedication to progressing in housing policies that provide genuine and practical solutions for the populace, while promoting balanced and sustainable development throughout the region.
