The Civil Guard has confiscated a shipment of food arriving from non-EU countries that had not undergone health inspections. This was discovered in the luggage of two passengers at Tenerife North airport, who are now under investigation as potential offenders against public health regulations.
On September 19, officers from the Fiscal and Border Section of the Civil Guard at Tenerife North airport examined the luggage of the two passengers using an X-ray machine, revealing food items hidden within the suitcases.
Consequently, they requested one of the passengers to open their luggage, where they uncovered a “significant quantity” of meat, dairy, and fish products that are prohibited from entry into the EU due to the absence of health controls, as reported by sources from the armed institute.
The Civil Guard suspects that these items “were likely intended for sale to the public in businesses situated in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.”
