Last Monday, the plenary session of the Puerto de la Cruz City Council unanimously endorsed, with the agreement of all political factions, the guidelines for the forthcoming call for grants aimed at businesses adversely impacted for over three months by the closure of the Playa Jardín bathing area due to wastewater discharges in the Punta Brava vicinity.
The established regulations stipulate that self-employed individuals without staff will receive €1,000, while micro-enterprises or self-employed persons with up to 10 employees will obtain €3,000. Small enterprises will be eligible to receive up to €10,000.
Moreover, businesses and self-employed individuals can present, among other things, labour, rental, or furniture expenses as qualifying costs. The municipal Executive aims to distribute the aid to those affected before the conclusion of this year.
In addition, to provide adequate support, the Departments of Finance and Commerce recommended a budget modification amounting to €100,000, which was also unanimously approved, reaffirming the municipal government’s commitment to enhance the subsidy line if required.
These initiatives form part of the initial package of economic and fiscal measures that the PP, ACP, and CC presented two weeks ago to the residents and traders impacted by this closure, and highlight that the administrative actions of the city council are currently prioritised on this urgent matter.
