The Municipal Services Department of La Laguna City Council, headed by Fran Hernández, announced yesterday the implementation of state-of-the-art LED technology for illuminating the newly designated free parking area situated between Seña Nicasia and La Concha streets, near Plaza del Cristo and Via de Ronda.
The lighting system comprises four columns standing 10 metres tall, each fitted with eight LED projectors that are “of the latest generation and designed for lower energy consumption, ensuring the delivery of this vital service, namely lighting,” the mayor elaborated.
This initiative forms part of a wider project promoted by the Department of Works and Infrastructure, under the guidance of Councillor Ángel Chinea, aimed at establishing a new parking facility for residents and visitors to the urban centre of La Laguna.
Chinea noted that the council anticipates the completion and opening of this new free parking area to the public before the year’s end. He emphasised that the aim of the project is not to increase the number of vehicles in the town centre but rather to encourage parking in communal spaces.
Furthermore, additional measures have been planned to enhance security in the parking facility, which includes clearing vegetation and cleaning the land, along with the installation of a security perimeter fence around the area.
