A 50-year-old man and a 19-year-old girl have tragically lost their lives, while three others sustained severe injuries following a head-on collision between two passenger vehicles on the TF-653 road in the Guaza area of Arona (Tenerife), as reported by the Emergency and Security Coordinating Centre of 1-1-2 of the Canary Islands.
The incident occurred at 11:13 p.m. on Monday. Multiple crews from the Tenerife Fire Brigade responded promptly to the scene, securing the wrecked vehicles, including one that had overturned, and rescuing the four occupants from inside one passenger vehicle and a fifth individual from the other car involved.
Following this, personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) could only confirm the unfortunate deaths of the 50-year-old man and the young woman.
They also assisted another 19-year-old young woman who presented with severe head injuries at the outset of assistance. She was transported in critical condition by ambulance to the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria University Hospital. Additionally, a 52-year-old woman with various serious injuries was taken to the same medical facility.
Medical staff also treated a 42-year-old man who initially displayed severe head trauma, and he was transported by ambulance to the Canary Islands University Hospital.
A physician and nurse from the Arico healthcare centre were involved in managing the incident, alongside members of the Tenerife Cabildo’s road maintenance team, who executed cleansing operations on the highway.
Furthermore, agents from the Local Police assisted the emergency services, while Civil Guard members compiled the necessary report.
