The Santa Cruz Carnival House collaborates with Santa Cruz Full Moon through a special lineup featuring guided tours, craft workshops, and performances from local Carnival groups. This was articulated by the mayor of the Tenerife capital, José Manuel Bermúdez, stating that “it stands as one of the city’s most significant venues, given the importance of this festival, hence the incentive of Plenilunio provides an additional opportunity to further publicise the history of our Carnival.”
In this context, Bermúdez highlighted that “the array of activities set for this space during Plenilunio is tailored for all age groups and will be free of charge.” He further commented, “Along with the customary guided tours and craft workshops, various Carnival murgas will be presenting performances.”
Carmen Pérez, the CEO of the Development Society, mentioned that “the Carnival House will open its doors from 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, allowing free entry. The activities will commence with two guided tours, scheduled from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., named ‘Carnavalízate’. Additionally, the craft workshop ‘Design your Carnival poster’ will run from 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., followed by the ‘Dress your Barbie as a Carnival Queen’ workshop from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., aimed at fostering creativity in allegorical designs.”
“The highlight of both days will be the musical performances by four Carnival murgas starting at 7:00 p.m.,” she explained, adding that “on Saturday, October 5, Guachinquietas and Chinchosos will take the stage, while on Sunday the 6th, Tras con Tras will perform.” She emphasised that “the Carnival groups are pivotal to the Festival’s success, hence whenever feasible, we should encourage performances of this nature to showcase their remarkable talent and entertain the audience with their clever lyrics.”
Since its inauguration in 2017 and up to September 25, 2024, the Carnival House has welcomed a total of 139,154 visitors. This figure includes 51,846 Canarian residents, 39,132 from the mainland, and 48,190 international visitors. Furthermore, this year alone, the facility has received 21,088 patrons, comprising 6,488 residents, 6,903 from the mainland, and 7,697 foreigners.
