A 40-year-old individual has sustained injuries following an accident whilst cycling on the main southern roadway (TF-28) in the municipality of Güímar, as detailed by the Emergency and Security Coordinating Centre (Cecoes) 1-1-2.
The incident transpired on Saturday at approximately 11:00 a.m., when the operational room of 1-1-2 was alerted about a cyclist who had tumbled approximately 15 metres, necessitating rescue and medical assistance.
Cecoes promptly deployed the required emergency services, which included a rescue helicopter from the GES, Tenerife Firefighters, a sanitised ambulance, along with another fully equipped ambulance from the SUC, as well as the Local Police, Civil Guard, and Environmental personnel.
The GES helicopter successfully located the injured party and coordinated the rescue with the assistance of the firefighters. Once onboard the aircraft, the GES transported the cyclist to Tenerife North Airport, where SUC ambulance personnel were on standby to transfer him to Nuestra Señora de Candelaria Hospital for treatment of moderate chest trauma, with no complications reported.
