A blend of music, a dazzling drone display, and even entertainers from the Clownbaret Festival will envelop Santa Cruz de Tenerife during the 16th edition of Plenilunio. This event will grace the capital from the 4th to the 6th of October, featuring close to 100 scheduled activities that, for the first time, will revolve around the theme of The Fantastic Worlds.
The festivities will unfold across roughly twenty venues in the city centre, spanning from García Sanabria Park to the esplanade on Avenida Anaga, as well as from Almeyda to the Casa del Carnaval, the Museum of Nature, or the TEA. This year, the initiative boasts performances by renowned artists such as Macaco, El Vega Life, Sara Socas, Bejo, and Sistah Vibes, slated for Friday the 4th. This will coincide with the launch of the Sunday consumption voucher, priced at 7.50 euros for purchases amounting to 25 euros.
The mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, alongside the CEO of the Development Society, Carmen Pérez, and the Director General of Tourism Quality of the Canary Islands Government, Héctor Mateo, unveiled the Plenilunio programme yesterday. The mayor emphasised its status, stating that it has “established itself with remarkable attendance and participation figures in recent editions, making it clear that it is greatly appreciated by residents and is attracting visitors from across the Island, including those who have never attended before.”
Carmen Pérez, the councillor of the Development Society, highlighted that, “in this edition, activities will be conducted in both open-air and enclosed venues. As a new feature, we have themed the event for the first time, with The Fantastic Worlds as the central theme, visible in locations such as García Sanabria Park, where Le Good Market will be themed around Alice in Wonderland.” The Plenilunio will commence on the 4th at 10:00 am, reaching its peak at 8:30 pm with a spectacular drone show in the Plaza de La Candelaria. This display will include over 220 drones and will be accompanied by the Tenerife Philharmonic Orchestra, synchronised with iconic musical pieces like Chariots of Fire and Pirates of the Caribbean. “A groundbreaking performance in the Canary Islands and a rare opportunity,” Pérez stated.
