The Governing Council has approved the signing of the Fifth Addendum to amend the cooperation agreement established between the Department of Social Welfare and the Cabildo of Fuerteventura to jointly finance the development of new infrastructure and the refurbishment of existing facilities aimed at creating additional social-healthcare placements on the island.
During the same session of the Governing Council on Monday, the modification to the budget was sanctioned, allowing for an increase in funding under this agreement by 1,091,875.91 euros, which will ensure financial provision, in 2024, for the changes proposed in this fifth addendum.
The signing of this latest Addendum signifies an enhancement in funding for the construction of the Puerto del Rosario Island Mental Health Residence by the amount of 36,208.80 euros, alongside the necessary equipment quantified at 500,000.00 euros; this adjustment results in the initial estimated cost of 3,411,853.58 euros being raised, setting the new updated total to be incorporated into the agreement at 4,466,738.69 euros.
This adjustment will also encompass the renovation of the existing Gran Tarajal Day Centre for People with Disabilities, and the increase in the budget allocated for the project pertains to the refurbishment of the Josefina Plá Senior Citizens Day Centre, which involves acquisition of equipment and facility adaptations, with a budget set at 120,000 euros.
The agreement will uphold the financing proportions that both parties initially set forth, specifying that the Government of the Canary Islands will contribute 71%, with the Fuerteventura Island Council accounting for the remaining 29%.
The revised contributions from both administrations towards the financing of this agreement total 18,115,342.12 euros, of which 12,861,892.91 euros are provided by the Government of the Canary Islands.
