SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 20 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Tenerife Island Council has unveiled the ‘Lanzadera Sinfónica’ and ‘Lanzadera Ópera’ initiatives this Friday, aimed at offering complimentary transport from various locations for each performance of the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra and every opera title.
The announcement was made during a press briefing by the president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Rosa Dávila; the Councillor for Culture and Museums of Tenerife, José Carlos Acha, and the Councillor for Mobility, Eulalia García.
Rosa Dávila underscored the significance of the initiative, which “not only fosters cultural engagement but also strengthens the commitment to sustainable transport, reducing reliance on private vehicles and promoting public transport for significant events.”
She emphasised that this service “aims not only to boost attendance at the concerts of the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra and the Tenerife Opera programme but also to provide a comfortable and sustainable mode of transport for music aficionados.”
As such, the introduction of these shuttles seeks to enhance access to culture for all residents of the island, “irrespective of their place of residence.”
José Carlos Acha, the island councillor for culture and president of the PIM and the Auditorium, indicated that this initiative “supports cultural access and territorial cohesion, hoping that a greater number of people from Tenerife will take advantage of the outstanding symphonic and lyrical season held on the island.”
Eulalia García, the island councillor for mobility and president of Titsa, highlighted “the public commitment of Titsa, the Symphony, and the Auditorium, providing a free transport service from across the island, enhancing the quality of life for residents and also fostering cultural tourism.”
The service will operate on Saturdays when performances by the Tenerife Opera and Tenerife Symphony Orchestra are scheduled.
The shuttles will feature two special routes to the Tenerife Auditorium to facilitate access for citizens to the concerts arranged by the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra.
The service will consist of two routes: the first commencing from the north of the island, starting in Buenavista, and the second from the south, beginning in Adeje.
Each route includes several strategic stops in various municipalities, allowing residents in different areas to access the cultural events at the Tenerife Auditorium with ease. The buses, which will accommodate 50 passengers, including one specially adapted for individuals with reduced mobility, will be clearly identified.
The buses will depart at a time that ensures all passengers arrive at the Tenerife Auditorium before 7:10 p.m., in readiness for the concerts commencing promptly at 7:30 p.m.
PRESENT TICKET AND RESERVE BEFORE SEPTEMBER 30
To utilise this shuttle service, which will be complimentary with a ticket for the symphony and opera performances, reservations will be necessary from 30 September either online or at the physical box office, applicable for both purchased tickets and future bookings.
The ‘North Route’ is scheduled to leave Buenavista at 5:15 p.m., making stops at Los Silos, Garachico, Icod de Los Vinos, San Juan de la Rambla, Los Realejos, La Orotava, Santa Ursula, La Victoria, La Matanza, and Tacoronte. The ‘South Route’ will depart from Adeje at 5:15 p.m., stopping at Arona (Los Cristianos), San Isidro, Arico (El Poris), Fasnia, Guimar/Arafo, Candelaria, and El Rosario (Radazul).
The Tenerife Opera performances for which this service will be available are scheduled for the Saturdays of the five subscription titles: Ariadne auf Naxos, by Richard Strauss (19 October); Madama Butterfly, by Giacomo Puccini (23 November); La bella Susona, by Alberto Carretero (7 December); Giovanna d’Arco, by Giuseppe Verdi (29 March); and Parsifal, a symphonic-choral synthesis in three acts by Pedro Halffter based on the opera by Richard Wagner (28 June).
