The La Laguna City Council, through its Department of Local Development, maintains its strong dedication to training as a crucial tool for enhancing the employability of individuals actively searching for work in the municipality. With this aim, registration will commence on Monday, September 24, for a total of 19 courses, available both in-person and online, “focused on the personal and professional development of unemployed individuals, enabling them to be better equipped, further their qualifications and potentially explore new job opportunities,” explained the Councillor for the Area, Domingo Galván.
According to Galván, “it is vital to keep knowledge current to succeed in the modern job market. Training is an investment, and we will persist in our efforts each month to provide this type of initiative, tailored to the professional requirements of various sectors and the aspirations of the citizens of La Laguna who place their trust in us.” “We will continue to offer support, equipping them with tools that enhance their CV and improve their prospects of securing employment,” he added.
In the realm of online training, the agenda for October encompasses various levels of English, ranging from A1 to B2, designed to enhance language capabilities, “a vital aspect for numerous roles within the tourism and business sectors,” she stated. Furthermore, training is available in effective time management, customer service in English for eateries, email and agenda management, as well as in the organisation of sales points and the promotion of personal branding in products and services.
In total, there are 530 hours of online instruction accessible, allowing learners to manage their time adaptively while receiving training in essential areas.
In-person Training
For the face-to-face training, specific courses have been arranged to bolster skills across a range of professional profiles, including professional make-up techniques, building maintenance, and plumbing, among others. These courses include a considerable practical element, providing tools, demonstrations, and exercises carried out in specialised classrooms that promote student participation. Altogether, there are 240 hours of in-person courses.
“We aim for all individuals from La Laguna seeking employment to have access to high-quality training at no cost. In times like these, when competition in the job market is intense, we believe it is essential to provide this support so they can explore new professional avenues,” Galván emphasised, encouraging residents to inform themselves and register for the courses that best align with their career aspirations.
