The Santa Cruz City Council, through the Mobility and Road Safety Department, announces that, in light of the conclusion of the European Mobility Week, which is scheduled for this Sunday, the 22nd, Francisco La Roche Avenue and parts of Avenida Marítima will be closed to traffic from 08:00 to 14:00. The closure will extend from the roundabout near the Treasury building to the junction with Las Ramblas. A traditional “Car-Free Day” will take place in this area, featuring a variety of activities and workshops.
As a result of the closure on Francisco La Roche Avenue, all parking spots in the vicinity of the event will be unavailable (between the Túnel Vía Litoral exit and República de Honduras Street). Furthermore, vehicles parked obliquely on the right side (towards Plaza de España) of Francisco La Roche, specifically between República de Honduras Street and Rambla de Santa Cruz, will have the option to exit towards Las Ramblas by executing a U-turn to access alternative routes.
Vehicles will be permitted to depart from garages with access towards Francisco La Roche Avenue in the section that is closed to through traffic, preferably ensuring that vehicle exits remain closed (except for emergencies) during the event hours.
As for detour routes for residents of the most impacted Anaga neighbourhoods and visitors to Las Teresitas beach, the suggested route heading towards San Andrés is via Avenida Marítima, Avenida San Sebastián, Bravo Murillo, Plaza de España, and La Marina. An alternative route in the same direction involves taking the internal road of the Port; while a third option would be through Las Ramblas, Reyes Católicos, Avenida de La Asunción, and once more, Rambla de Santa Cruz.
For those travelling south, the proposed alternative path would be via Rambla de Santa Cruz – Avda.
This event will also necessitate the removal or diversion of stops on urban transport services. Therefore, the bus lines serving Anaga (910, 916, 917, 945, 946, and 947) will operate along Ramblas de Santa Cruz in both directions, from 08:00 to 14:00, resuming their regular route once the aforementioned roads are reopened to traffic.
In the case of line 921, it will proceed to the Navy Headquarters and then return via Las Ramblas. Meanwhile, line 914 will be suspended during the same timeframe.
