SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 18 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The chairwoman of the Tenerife Island Council, Rosa Dávila, conveyed her optimism this Wednesday regarding the holiday rental legislation, which is set to commence its proceedings in the Parliament of the Canary Islands, asserting it will bring “order” to this form of tourism.
In a press briefing to disclose the decisions made by the Government Council, she highlighted that tourist accommodation “is merely another offering” in the sector and also signifies an additional “income stream” for small property owners, thus it is “essential” to establish the regulation correctly, particularly since Tenerife holds 45% of the regional market share.
She further believes that the forthcoming regulation should be “aligned” with the island’s tourism strategy, ensuring it is “sustainable and of high quality” while also facilitating the equitable distribution of earnings within the tourism sector.
