The primary stage at Plaza del Cristo is set to host the inaugural edition of the Siroco Independent Music Festival this coming Friday, September 20, commencing at 8:30 p.m. This event, backed by the Autonomous Organisation of Musical Activities of La Laguna, is officially making its debut within the cultural and recreational programme of the Festivities of the Holy Christ, featuring a remarkable lineup that includes Iván Ferreiro, Standstill and Said Muti.
La Laguna’s Mayor, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, indicated that this initiative, which will be free of charge, is intended to establish itself as a key highlight in the alternative music landscape of the Canary Islands and become a recurring fixture in the calendar of these festivals, which annually expands with a variety of musical genres from nationally recognised artists and bands.
In this context, the Mayor emphasised that “for this first edition of the festival, we opted to spotlight established artists such as Iván Ferreiro and Said Muti, along with the Catalan band Standstill, which has recently returned to performing after several years away from the stage.” These performances will feature the show Bea Miau, presented by actress and journalist Beatriz Cano, who will merge indie, pop, and electronic music in her act.
Among the musical acts highlighted, Iván Ferreiro, former frontman of the iconic band Los Piratas, stands out. This singer-songwriter has emerged as one of the most influential voices in the realm of indie music in the national sphere, building a prosperous career filled with chart-topping songs.
Said Muti is heralded as one of the most promising rock musicians in the Canary Islands, renowned for his distinctive style and songwriting abilities. These talents enabled him to share the stage with none other than Elton John on his tour across Spain in 2017.
Finally, the band Standstill, rooted in the underground hardcore punk scene, is also set to perform during the Fiestas del Cristo, captivating the audience with their musical energy and signature stage presence.
