SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 18 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The offices of the Presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands in Tenerife will host a gathering on Wednesday, commencing at 09:00, between the President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, and the Vice-President of the European Commission, Margaritis Schinas, to discuss the migration situation on the islands.
This meeting follows Clavijo’s correspondence with the President of the EC, Ursula Von der Leyen, requesting her to visit the archipelago and observe the conditions in which migrants and unaccompanied minors are accommodated.
Attending the meeting will also be the Vice-President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Manuel Domínguez, the Minister of the Presidency, Public Administrations, Justice and Security, Nieves Lady Barreto, the Deputy Minister of the Presidency, Alfonso Cabello, and the Director General of Relations with Africa, Luis Padilla.
The European Commission will be represented by Olivier Bergeau and María Luisa Llano, members of the cabinet of the Vice-President of the European Commission, along with the representative of the Community Executive in Spain, Etienne de Perier.
