SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 16 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
A cayuco carrying 67 migrants (awaiting the final tally on land) was intercepted in the waters off El Hierro on Monday afternoon, according to sources from Maritime Rescue.
The vessel was spotted 13 miles southeast of El Hierro, following a distress call from its occupants, prompting the Coordination Centre in Tenerife to dispatch the lifeboat ‘Adhara’.
Upon arriving at the location, the rescue team found the immobilised canoe and carried out the operation to rescue the 67 individuals on board, which included one woman and two children, transporting them to the La Restinga dock.
