SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 16 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The representative of the Canary Islands Government, Fernando Clavijo, has condemned this Monday the “punishment” that the central Government is inflicting upon the islands by considering the possibility of challenging the new protocol for the care of migrant minors before the Constitutional Court, which aims to “ensure the best” for the children arriving on the islands.

During a press briefing to update on the resolutions of the Government Council, he denounced that the President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, who sought to address the inter-ministerial commission “in writing” on Tuesday, was barred from participating.

“It is intolerable to assault the Canary Islands,” he stated, emphasising that the Government is set to convene with four ministers shortly to review the protocol for minors in the Canary Islands but is not focusing on proposing “immediate solutions.”
