La Restinga Pier, in El Hierro, welcomed the second cayuco of the day on the island during the midday hours of Saturday, a vessel carrying 28 irregular migrants on board.
This was reported by Salvamento Marítimo, who added that it was an alert from SIVE that, at approximately 13:40, directed them towards a potential irregular boat located about three miles offshore from El Hierro.
The Salvamar Adhara was subsequently deployed, proceeding to the location and identifying a cayuco which it escorted to La Restinga, where its 28 occupants disembarked at 14:15.
This marks the second cayuco incident on Saturday in El Hierro after an irregular vessel arrived at the dock earlier in the morning carrying 57 sub-Saharan migrants, three of whom were minors.
