A new judicial setback has occurred regarding the wage increase for higher officials and local police officers of the Icod de los Vinos City Council, which was approved during the last term. The Administrative Litigation Court No. 4 of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has annulled, for the second time in two months, the decision made during the plenary session on 27th July 2021. This ruling pertains to the increase of the specific supplement for qualified national personnel—such as auditor, secretary and treasurer—as well as for Local Police staff. These additions complement the base salary, and some councils implement them to attract hard-to-recruit professionals, particularly in smaller municipalities, or to reward their existing staff.
