The governing board of the Cabildo de Tenerife has greenlit the VI Addendum to the cooperation agreement established with the Government of the Canary Islands to deliver services for individuals facing dependency issues, which will introduce an additional 418 new placements in 2024.
This was revealed on Wednesday by Vice President Lope Afonso during a press briefing, where he detailed the profile of those who will benefit from these placements—individuals with autism, those receiving psychogeriatric care, and those experiencing behavioural disorders—alongside the types of provisions to be made: residential facilities and day care centres.
Lope Afonso clarified that, with the sixth addendum, a total of 418 new placements will be incorporated, resulting in a total of 8,100 by 2024, alongside an addition of 24,000 hours dedicated to enhancing personal autonomy for those being catered to.
The financial adjustment approved on Wednesday signifies an increase of over 3,200,000 euros from Addendum V, amounting to nearly 128 million euros in total for 2024.
The funding for these services will derive from 2,327,000 euros allocated by the regional government, with an additional 876,000 euros from the Tenerife Island Council.
