On the previous day, the Local Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife apprehended a 17-year-old minor, identified as AE, after he had assaulted his ex-partner at the Transport Interchange in the capital of Tenerife.
The apprehended individual successfully evaded the facility’s security personnel but was subsequently intercepted by the Santa Cruz police on Avenida Constitución, in proximity to the Adán Martín Tenerife Auditorium.
The altercation occurred at approximately 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, when a 17-year-old woman reported to the security guards that her former partner had just attacked her, with witnesses present throughout the incident.
Initially, the security personnel detained the individual and alerted the local police to clarify the circumstances. Nevertheless, the apprehended individual managed to flee from the location, prompting all officers to be informed with a physical description of him and his attire.
In the meantime, local officers took responsibility for providing initial support to the victim, informing her of her rights in relation to this potential case of gender violence and even accompanying her to the National Police headquarters to lodge the necessary complaint. Upon arrival at the federal security agency, she received assistance from the Family and Women’s Care Unit (UFAM).
The detainee confessed to the allegations to the local police and was subsequently taken to a healthcare facility, where he was later placed under the jurisdiction of the authorities from the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office. The local agents also notified the minor’s mother to inform her of the situation and took steps to ensure her care.
