SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 3 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

TLP Tenerife, the festival focused on technologies and emerging trends, has commenced its sixteenth edition this Tuesday and will run until Sunday.

The Summer-Con Zone, which caters to enthusiasts of video games and Asian culture, will open its doors this Wednesday, with tickets available for purchase via TomaTicket or at the event’s box office.

This edition of TLP Tenerife marks a return after a brief hiatus in recent years, supported by the Cabildo as part of its commitment to providing recreational activities, educational opportunities, and new business avenues for residents.

TLP Tenerife 2024 will feature two distinct areas. The LAN Party area will assemble hundreds of participants who bring their computing gear to socialise over several days at the venue.

The other section is the Summer-Con area, which will host a range of recreational and educational programmes related to manga, comics, animation, and Asian culture.

The event was unveiled on Tuesday, with the attendance of Rosa Dávila, President of the Cabildo; Lope Afonso, Vice President; Alfonso Cabello, Deputy Minister of the Presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands; José Manuel Bermúdez, Mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife; Juan José Martínez, Councillor for Innovation, Research and Development of the Cabildo; and Idaira Febles, the event’s director.

Rosa Dávila expressed her gratitude towards the “patience of the wool workers” who awaited the return of TLP Tenerife, along with all those who contributed to making this edition feasible, both politically and organisationally.

“We are physically located in Tenerife, but we exist on a global scale in the realm of technology and innovation,” stated the Cabildo president.

Lope Afonso characterised this event as “a prime example of gaming in the Canary Islands and a platform for professions connected to the tech industry.”

The Deputy Minister of the Presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands, Alfonso Cabello, also expressed his appreciation to the organising team for reviving this project and acknowledged the contributions of all those who have helped make this event one of the premier gatherings in the Canary Islands.

José Manuel Bermúdez, the Mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, highlighted “the significance of fostering initiatives centred on innovation that can lead to stable employment opportunities for the future.”

Idaira Febles, director of TLP Tenerife, extended her thanks to the authorities “for their cooperation in facilitating the return of the event,” especially noting Rosa Dávila’s support for this initiative and the 150 individuals hired to realise “the return of the teleoperators.”

OVER 67 MILLION FOLLOWERS AMONG ALL GUESTS

This year’s TLP Tenerife unites twenty-four guests from various domains including Twitch, YouTube, film, cosplay, K-Pop, and even board games.

The principal guest is Misho Amoli, a content creator boasting over 1.4 million followers across his social media platforms, a boxer featured in La Velada del Año 3, and one of the three main figures in the YouTube series ’21 Días’, which has numerous episodes surpassing one million views.

He will be accompanied by other streamers such as Mayichi, who, alongside Iker Casillas, presides over the football club ‘1K’ in the King’s and Queen’s League; Vicens, who creates content centred on Fortnite; and Raptor Gamer, who engages in Minecraft gameplay and has 15 million followers.

The film sector will also be represented by three dubbing actors, including Salvador Vidal, known for voicing characters such as Indiana Jones and Luke Skywalker, who will participate in an open interview for visitors on Saturday at 12:00 in the conference room.

Later that same day, at 6:30 p.m., the main stage will feature a panel discussion with Claudio Serrano, who voices Batman; Rafael Azcárraga, the voice of Kratos in the God of War video game; and Diego Merayo, a film TikToker with over 1 million subscribers on his profile ‘Te Lo Cuento Sin Spoilers.’

ESPORTS TOURNAMENTS AND COMPETITIONS

Over 30 competitions will take place across four different tournament categories, featuring a variety of titles, from League of Legends and Tekken 8 to Just Dance and Fortnite.

Furthermore, the finals of the TLP Championship, a competition that commenced months ago in the realms of esports and K-Pop dance, will be held.

In this regard, the champions in League of Legends, Tekken 8, and EA Sports FC24 in the esports category will be announced, alongside awards for both group and solo K-Pop performers.

The event will conclude on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. with the Grand Cosplay Competition, which will honour the top cosplayer in the Canary Islands.

THE IDEAL PLATFORM FOR DIVERSE TECHNOLOGICAL PRESENTATIONS

TLP Tenerife will also serve as the launch venue for two significant technological events. The first is the TLP Link-Up! meeting, hosted by technology firms Globalan and HPE Aruba.

This gathering will bring together professionals from the LAN and WLAN communications networks sector.

Consequently, various devices will undergo testing with real-time data to assess several of the event’s activities, environmental conditions, and energy consumption, among other factors.

Additionally, tech YouTuber Nate Gentile, who has over 3.5 million followers on his social media profiles, will unveil OC Computer on Saturday, the new gaming computer brand developed by Intel and Deep Cool.

A DEDICATION TO EDUCATION AND ENTERTAINMENT LINKED TO TECHNOLOGIES AND EMERGING TRENDS

While TLP Tenerife will welcome visitors to its Summer-Con area from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., the event terrace will remain accessible after closing time, free of charge for all attendees. Here, anime films in their original languages will be shown daily, alongside the opportunity to sample offerings from the event’s Gastro Zone.

Moreover, the language service from the University of La Laguna will provide introductory classes in Japanese and Korean for participants. This isn’t the only educational offering, as the event will also include an animation workshop teaching attendees how to animate a cartoon character’s movement.
