The City Council of La Laguna is set to provide close to 300 new complimentary parking spaces in a vicinity near the town centre, situated on a 6,000 square metre parcel of municipal land positioned between Seña Nicasia and La Concha streets, adjacent to the Ronda Road.
The Mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, inspected the location on Monday alongside the Councillor for Works and Infrastructure, highlighting that this project, funded with over 40,000 euros, aligns with one of the primary aims for the current term: to enhance the availability of parking spaces.
“The intention” of this initiative, the mayor elaborates in a statement, “is not to augment the number of vehicles on the roads, but to facilitate local residents and visitors in easily leaving their cars and opting to walk to our tourist attractions, shops, restaurants, or their workplaces.”
Ángel Chinea indicates that the construction is anticipated to be finalised before the year’s end, leading to the subsequent inauguration of this free parking facility.
The undertaking at the site will involve clearing and preparing the land, resurfacing the roadway, erecting a security fence around the premises, and constructing new access points for vehicles and pedestrians.
