The Tenerife Council is set to undertake enhancements to the drainage of the Barranco Los Pastores for a duration of three months (Puerto de la Cruz) in order to address the runoff issues that the TF-31 has been experiencing, necessitating the rerouting of its traffic.
The project, with a total investment of 613,000 euros, is scheduled to commence on 3rd September and will be ongoing for three months, as stated in a press release from the Cabildo.
The rerouting of traffic on the TF-31, which grants access to the holiday destination via Martiánez, will impact the sections between kilometre points 2+600 and 4+400.
The island authority also anticipates a full closure of the downhill lane leading towards the entrance to Puerto de la Cruz via Martiánez, where traffic will be redirected to the area referred to as La Paz.
Additionally, there will be another complete closure of the uphill lane towards the TF-5, with traffic being redirected via Avenida Aguilar y Quesada.
The TF-31 roadway is susceptible to the flooding caused by runoff, which brings with it stones and various debris from the Barranco de Los Pastores during heavy rainfall periods.
The Tenerife Island Council has indicated that a reinforced concrete structure will be constructed to facilitate the flow of water over the road and the adjacent pedestrian walkway, ensuring that the roadway remains unaffected.
