The Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is set to welcome 169 cruise vessels from September 5 to December 31, amounting to more than 434,000 available spots, according to information from the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
This information was revealed in a press statement by the Mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez, who emphasised the positive impact these numbers have on the capital, particularly in terms of the tourism generated by cruise visitors and their spending in local shops and eateries.
The local council has clarified that while the peak season for cruise visitors commences in October, notable cruise liners such as the Britannia, Anthem of the Seas, MSC Virtuosa, Ventura, and IONA, among others, will begin docking in Santa Cruz from September 2024.
Furthermore, it is noted that November will be the most significant month for this tourist sector, featuring the arrival of 72 cruise ships.
During the period from September to December 2023, over 400,000 visitors arrived in Santa Cruz via the Ports of Tenerife to explore the capital, and for just September and October 2024, an anticipated 97,385 passengers are expected, excluding crew members.
