Emergency Service professionals from the Canary Islands provided assistance to a woman who was diving in Añaza, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, on Tuesday afternoon due to moderate decompression sickness.
Decompression sickness arises when a diver ascends to the surface too rapidly or at a speed exceeding recommended limits, leading to the formation of nitrogen bubbles in the body from the compressed air inhaled.
The woman received treatment at the Añaza diving pier before being transported by ambulance to the Canary Islands University Hospital.
Local Police officers managed the necessary procedures and worked alongside emergency services.
