VALVERDE (EL HIERRO), 22 Aug. (EUROPA PRESS) –
On Thursday, two additional cayucos arrived at the port of La Restinga in El Hierro, bringing the day’s total of migrants to 338, as reported by sources from Maritime Rescue to Europa Press.
The second cayuco, carrying 76 migrants of sub-Saharan descent – 71 men and five women – was detected by rescue personnel close to the dock and was safely escorted.
The third vessel was located post-13:00 hours, also near the port, with 82 migrants on board, again of sub-Saharan origin – 78 men and four women – and was subsequently accompanied by the Salvamar Adhara.
Earlier in the day, radar had identified a cayuco carrying 180 individuals, all of sub-Saharan descent – comprising 14 women and 12 minors – approximately five miles south of the island, prompting the Salvamar Adhara to escort the boat to port.
