Trio Nabbed for Beach Vehicle Thefts in Tenerife Tourist Hotspots

The National Police have apprehended three individuals in Santa Cruz de Tenerife who are purportedly engaging in thefts from vehicles parked on beaches and in areas with significant tourist activity.

As per the investigation, the trio were using hired vehicles to masquerade as tourists, thereby evading detection by law enforcement, as stated by the National Police on Thursday.

This apprehension formed part of a targeted operation conducted by the National Police in Santa Cruz de Tenerife aimed at preventing forceful thefts from vehicles parked on public roadways.

With the onset of the summer season, it has become essential to implement specific measures due to the increase, albeit small, in certain criminal activities, such as thefts from vehicles within tourist hotspots, beaches, and scenic viewpoints, the police force remarked.

In light of this, the Police recommend ensuring that doors and windows of your vehicle are securely shut, even for brief absences, and emphasise that keys should never be left in the ignition.

Additionally, it is advised not to leave backpacks, bags, mobile phones, or any other valuables in plain sight on the dashboard or front seats, nor should garage or house keys be stored inside the vehicle.

It is further suggested to park the vehicle, if feasible, in well-lit areas, avoiding secluded locations.
