The La Laguna City Council, via the Autonomous Sports Organisation (OAD), declared yesterday that the contract for the refurbishment of the artificial turf on the football pitch adjacent to the Francisco Peraza stadium has been awarded. This turf has faced deterioration due to time and continuous usage. The work is set to commence at the start of next September, with an overall budget exceeding 20,000 euros.
The Sports Councillor, Badel Albelo, highlighted that “the Francisco Peraza is a historic and iconic stadium for La Laguna, and our duty is to maintain it in optimal condition for the use and enjoyment of the municipality’s athletes and teams.”
Albelo further emphasised that “this type of municipal investment in sports facilities enhances the overall well-being of the community and fosters healthy practices among various generations, with amenities suited to all requirements for engaging in a range of sports.”
Execution
The refurbishment will involve an initial phase of assessing all the joints and marking areas on the playing field, followed by the extraction of the sections that are in a poor state and not securely anchored.
These preliminary actions will facilitate the thorough clearing of adhesion areas on the base from any fillers and other impediments. Additionally, 30-centimetre-wide joint strips will be utilised, which will enhance the response to any future joint openings.
After sealing, pressure will be applied using a roller to ensure contact and an optimal bond. Finally, with the aid of a manual brush, the filler will be repositioned until the surface achieves the most even finish possible.
