SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 18 Aug (EUROPA PRESS) –
An 80-year-old swimmer tragically perished on Saturday afternoon at La Tejita Beach, located in the Granadilla de Abona municipality (Tenerife), as reported by the Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (Cecoes) 112.
Authorities received a call indicating that a swimmer had been rescued from the water, exhibiting signs of drowning and an unconscious state. Lifeguards, upon confirming he was in cardiorespiratory arrest, executed cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques.
When the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) arrived, accompanied by a doctor and a nurse from the local health centre, they continued with advanced procedures; however, these efforts proved futile, leading to the confirmation of the individual’s death.
Ultimately, the Local Police and Civil Guard commenced the necessary investigations and assisted the emergency services.
