Residents of the La Listada district in the Arico municipality have voiced increasing worries about ongoing problems with the water supply. Locals report that the pipes in the area are in a state of disrepair, leading to frequent water outages and low pressure, particularly during peak demand times like the month of August.
Affected individuals highlight that the insufficient pressure in the water supply hampers the functioning of water heaters, resulting in many households lacking hot water.
Furthermore, they note that sometimes the water supply is completely cut off, while other times only a minimal trickle emerges from the taps.
The residents’ collective criticises the management of the Arico Town Hall, alleging that no effective actions have been taken to address these issues despite assurances. They also point out a lack of adequate technical personnel within the town hall due to a high number of team members on sick leave.
In the absence of resolutions, some residents have chosen to purchase water containers and pumps to ensure water access in their homes, particularly those situated on higher floors.
The inhabitants of La Listada are urging the authorities to implement the necessary steps to ensure a consistent and reliable water supply in the district.
