Until further notice, there is a limit on the consumption of tap water for the entire population. This restriction applies to drinking, cooking, and food preparation, as stated by the local authority.
This measure affects everyone and is necessary due to the high levels of fluoride in the water, caused by the recent lack of rainfall and various breakdowns in the distribution network. These issues have led to a significant surge in water demand and a decrease in the levels of municipal tanks.
The La Guancha City Council has implemented this restriction to ensure that there is enough water supply for essential domestic activities and personal hygiene, thus preventing a more severe problem for the community.
Furthermore, the process of desalination for a portion of the water entering the tanks has been suspended. This pause aims to allow the integration of ‘raw water’ and facilitate a rapid restoration of the proper water levels in all municipal storage facilities.
