SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 16th August (EUROPA PRESS) –
Officers from the Civil Guard of Santa Cruz de La Palma have apprehended a 36-year-old woman residing in the municipality of Arona (Tenerife) on suspicion of committing six property crimes for theft with force and five theft offences, all carried out within the port area of the capital of La Palma.
The arrest took place following a robbery in mid-June 2023, involving the theft of two batteries from trucks parked in the port area of Santa Cruz de La Palma. The perpetrators used a shear-type tool to disconnect the vehicle’s batteries completely, as reported by the Civil Guard.
Subsequently, in July, multiple reports were filed concerning thefts of various electrical equipment, including more truck batteries from the same port.
This prompted the Civil Guard officers to initiate an investigation. Following several investigative steps, they were able to uncover evidence linking the accused to the criminal acts. Consequently, the suspect was promptly arrested.
The investigation has led to the recovery of some of the stolen items that were sold at recycling plants on the island of Tenerife. The detainee, along with the gathered evidence, has been brought before the on-call investigating court in Santa Cruz de La Palma.
