On Thursday, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, a small boat carrying 180 male migrants of sub-Saharan descent arrived at the Los Cristianos port in the south of Tenerife.
At 10.30 am, a vessel informed the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Tenerife about a small boat spotted near Las Galletas.
Immediately, the ‘Alpheratz’ lifeboat was dispatched, and by around 11.15 am, it confirmed the sighting of the small boat, reporting that the individuals on board appeared to be in good health.
The rescue team, along with a police patrol boat, escorted the small boat to the port of Los Cristianos, where it docked under its own power. Necessary health and safety protocols were implemented upon arrival.
There were 18 minors among the passengers, and eight of them were transferred to the Hospital del Sur and the Hospiten Sur University Hospital for various medical conditions.
