Santa Cruz is emerging as a top destination for businesses in the audiovisual sector. The Development Society, through its Santa Cruz Film Office division, has provided guidance to a total of 62 national and international production companies so far this year, who have selected the capital for photo shoots, advertising, TV series, films, and documentaries.
Among the projects supported by Santa Cruz Film Office in 2024, noteworthy productions include the series “The Head 3”, “The Gold 2”, “What are you waiting for?”, the film “Reasonable Doubt”, a documentary about the life of Tenerife boxer Miguel Velázquez, as well as various commercials and photo shoots for brands like Armani, Mango, C&A, Merrell, Audi, Kalenji, Cerruti, Citroën, and Décimas.
The mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, stated yesterday that “an increasing number of producers and companies in the audiovisual sector are turning their attention to our city, thus establishing us on the audiovisual map as a strategic partner and contributing to a thriving economy for our municipality.”
The mayor commended the efforts of the technicians at Santa Cruz Film Office, “who tirelessly work to position themselves as a facilitating link for those opting to undertake a project in our city, while positioning Santa Cruz as a prime destination for the audiovisual industry.”
Carmen Pérez, the CEO of the Development Company, mentioned, “in the first seven months of 2024, a total of 62 audiovisual productions have been instrumental in creating a robust business network in this city within the sector, encouraging the employment of local companies and individuals from our community. These advantages are made possible by the exemplary role played by the Film Office in establishing our city as a filming location and aiding those in need to navigate the administrative processes to make Santa Cruz a preferred film site.”
“The audiovisual sector identifies Santa Cruz as a strategic location in which to film diverse scenes, set up their operational camps, accommodate their teams, and strategize and execute all the logistical aspects involved in an audiovisual project of this nature,” she added.
The councilor noted, “between August and November, filming is scheduled for a total of seven series in Santa Cruz, for which they are currently scouting locations in the city, and are also hiring skilled technical personnel and the required local profiles and companies for their ventures.”
“The objective is for the Santa Cruz Film Office to direct the demand for services from producers to have a beneficial impact on the city,” Pérez stated.
