SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 14th August (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Transport Department of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has completed the trial period of the bus lane to Las Teresitas, which has been in operation for several weekends during the months of June, July, and August.
The councillor responsible for the department, Evelyn Alonso, stated that this decision was made because there is now enough data to assess the effectiveness of the initiative implemented on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays over the summer months.
Evelyn Alonso also mentioned that ongoing traffic studies will be conducted in the area, focusing on the parking lots along the San Andrés seafront avenue and the newly opened area at the entrance to the beach or in the Las Teresitas car parks.
Furthermore, Alonso stated that they will continue to introduce new initiatives and measures, along with other alternatives, to enhance mobility in this area of the capital’s coastline and to streamline public transport services in order to prevent congestion and significant delays.
The data collected thus far indicates that the number of passengers on buses on weekends when the bus lane was operational exceeded 22,000 users of line 910 (Interchange-Las Teresitas).
During each journey, the travel times were approximately 30 minutes or even less, whereas on weekends when the bus lane was not operational, travel times from the Fishing Dock to the beach entrance exceeded 40 minutes.
