SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 13th August (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Command Civil Guard will be conducting a significant operation to ensure the safety and security of all individuals planning to join the pilgrimage to Candelaria from Tuesday to Thursday.
Over 150 Civil Guards are involved in various public safety duties, particularly considering the forest fire risk alert due to high temperatures across the island, along with the restrictions on transit along forest tracks and paths.
Various units of the Civil Guard are part of this operation: Provincial Maritime Service, Citizen Security Unit of Command (USECIC), patrols from the territorial units of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Company, Explosives Search and Deactivation Group, Weapons and Explosives Intervention, Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA), Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group (GREIM), Canine Service, Judicial Police, Traffic Group, Pegaso Team (drones) and the Helicopter Unit (UHEL) of the Civil Guard Zone in the Canary Islands.
Additionally, local police from different municipalities in Tenerife, Civil Protection, Firefighters, Red Cross, and other organisations from the Cabildo and the Government of the Canary Islands will also be involved in their respective roles.
The primary objective of this operation is to ensure safety, as well as to facilitate a peaceful and organised celebration at this unique event that attracts significant attention on both the island and regional levels, anticipating a large turnout.
