SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 12 Aug. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The tourism board of La Gomera has launched its winter promotional campaign in the key European markets ahead of schedule. The campaign is being rolled out in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and Switzerland through a multi-platform approach, with the aim of reaching more than one and a half million potential tourists in these countries.
Casimiro Curbelo, the president of the Cabildo, highlighted that this promotional drive is aimed at proactively engaging with the main European markets to foster loyalty and kickstart holiday bookings. He stated, “There are promising prospects for the upcoming winter season, in which we have consistently been one of the preferred destinations for a getaway in a setting renowned for its natural beauty.”
The island’s tourism councillor, María Isabel Méndez, underscored the importance of continued efforts to establish a distinctive and sustainable tourism model like that of La Gomera. The focus is on targeted promotional initiatives directed at travellers who genuinely seek the island’s tourist offerings for their holidays.
As part of this endeavour, the campaign will feature content distributed across various countries, both in digital formats and through physical media at strategic outdoor locations. The online campaign aims to engage with 700,000 individuals via YouTube, and 500,000 through Facebook and Instagram.
Specifically, the campaign includes short 15-second videos and dynamic posts showcasing prominent images of La Gomera, with the goal of creating a positive impression on the audience. Méndez explained, “Our aim is for viewers to visit our website after watching these videos and begin planning their visit to the island.”
Moreover, automated advertising will be employed to secure a wider range of digital advertising spaces, targeting the audience based on their interest in the destination and their preferences. This is anticipated to reach an additional 500,000 users.
In addition to the digital campaign, La Gomera is actively participating in major tourism fairs and events, with plans to engage in around thirty such events annually across key European cities. The island is also organising press trips and familiarisation trips with travel agents to provide them with firsthand experience of the destination. These initiatives are carried out in collaboration with the Spanish Tourist Offices, enabling agents to familiarise themselves with the island and share their experiences with their audience and potential clients. Méndez added, “This approach has yielded positive results in recent years and has been instrumental in enhancing the impact of our campaigns.”
