The City Council of Puerto de la Cruz has announced that the Island Council of Tenerife has initiated the repair work of a damaged emissary from the regional sewage treatment plant on Sunday.
An official statement highlighted that professional divers will be involved in carrying out the repair works, and the treatment plant will also start discharging purified water through the spillway. As a result, there is a ban on any water activities in the area until further notice.
This emergency measure is being implemented today, following the City Council’s communication of the contamination analysis results conducted on July 31 by a certified company. The findings revealed a high bacterial contamination level at the site of the break.
