Intercity Transport in Tenerife (Titsa), which is managed by the Tenerife Island Council, has declared that for the Candelaria festival on 14 and 15 August, some of its services will be enhanced to assist pilgrims in moving around.
Starting from this Wednesday, 14 August at 2:00 p.m., until Thursday, 15 August at 5:00 p.m., the entire service in Candelaria will operate from Avenida de los Menceyes, near the old Station. This means that stops from Bélgica Street to Plaza de Teror will be temporarily out of service, as per the transport company’s press release.
During this period, line 122 will not only follow its usual route between Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Las Caletillas, and Candelaria but will also have additional services based on passenger demand to ensure smooth mobility during these dates.
Regarding line 120 (Santa Cruz-Güímar, Candelaria, Puertito de Güímar), there will be more departures starting at 17:10. Additionally, a special service for line 522 will be in operation, running from La Laguna-Autopista-Candelaria, starting at 18:00 on 14 August and available through the night and all day on Thursday, 15 August.
The final departure from Candelaria to La Laguna will be at 8:30 p.m., following the same route in both directions: La Laguna-Northern Highway TF-5-Linking Highway TF-2, Southern Highway TF-1-Candelaria.
For pilgrims starting their journey on Carretera General del Sur, several lines will be available throughout 14 August with their regular schedules. These lines can be used as connections at the following points: Santa Cruz-Cruce de La Cuesta with lines 014 and 228; Santa Cruz-Cruce de Taco with lines 232, 233, 934, 936, 937 and 238; and Santa Cruz-Hospital Universitario de Canarias with lines 015, 102, 103 and 108.
For those travelling from the southern part of the island, lines 111 and 711 connect Santa Cruz de Tenerife with Costa Adeje via the TF-1 motorway, both for the outward and return journey.
Titsa also mentions that pilgrims using the bus to reach Candelaria will have free parking in the car parks of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife and La Laguna interchanges from 6:00 p.m. on 14 August to 11:00 p.m. on 15 August, upon presenting a ticket from lines 120, 122, and 522. Users need to visit the central cashier of the car park to verify the use of these bus lines.
Furthermore, a normal service at standard rates will be available between Izaña, La Crucita, Los Loros, Arafo, and Candelaria, operated by line number 529. The schedules for this service will be on the night of Wednesday 14th and the early hours of 15th at 22:00, 00:30, and 03:00 hours, departing from Izaña. This same line will also have connections between Candelaria and Güímar and Arafo at 23:15 and 02:30 hours.
