City officials for Transport and the Anaga region, Evelyn Alonso and Gladis de Leon, suggest utilising public transport for trips to The Theresies this upcoming weekend. The bus lane from Dársena Pesquera to the beach’s main area will reopen, “therefore, from Friday to Sunday, between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., the bus lane will be operational. To avoid queues, we recommend beach visitors to opt for public transport, which is not only more convenient but also faster.”
Data provided by the Titsa company, responsible for urban public transport in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, indicates the positive impact of using collective transport to expedite access to and from the capital’s beach. Evelyn Alonso notes, “the figures demonstrate efficient operations, yet it’s crucial to continue promoting collective transport usage.” Councillor Gladis de León emphasises, “the main goal of the bus lane to Las Teresitas is to ensure mobility and accessibility for residents of Santa Andrés, as well as facilitating access to the Anaga region.”
Specific data reveals that over 22,000 passengers utilised line 910 (Interchange-Las Teresitas) on the recent operational days of the bus lane. On Friday, August 2nd, 7,358 passengers travelled on this line; the following day recorded 7,540 passengers, with Sunday seeing 7,154 passengers. The introduction of this measure has notably reduced travel times, with most trips taking around 30 minutes or even less.
Without the bus lane, on a weekend with favourable weather and high beach attendance, the average travel time between San Andrés and Las Teresitas exceeded 40 minutes. Comparatively, with the lane in operation, the journey times have significantly shortened. This has improved comfort for public transport users accessing Las Teresitas beach,” the urban transport company highlights.
It’s important to note that the bus lane is located on the right-hand side, between the exit from Dársena Pesquera on the TF-11 highway and the El Castillo de San Andrés roundabout. This lane is designated for buses, taxis, and motorcycles entering from Dársena Pesquera, with no other vehicles permitted to use it. This choice was made based on various road safety considerations, ensuring smooth traffic flow from Dársena and the established stop on Avenida de San Andrés.
