The Council of Tenerife has lifted the prohibition on lighting fires in recreational areas on Tuesday due to improved weather conditions. However, agricultural burning remains suspended to prevent the risk of forest fires.
Therefore, starting from this Tuesday, the regular regime of uses of mountains and protected natural spaces as provided in the laws and regulations, specifically those governing preventive measures for forest fires, will be in effect, according to the Council’s statement.
“The weather conditions have improved, but we still need to be cautious with activities in the mountains, especially those that could start a fire,” emphasised Rosa Dávila, the president of the island council.
The General Directorate of Emergencies of the Canary Islands has lifted the pre-alert for high temperatures and the forest fire risk alert from 9:00 p.m. on Monday, following the end of the high temperatures affecting the midlands, high areas, and summits of Tenerife.
