SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 6 August (EUROPA PRESS) –
Isabella Rossellini, the actress, will kick off the third edition of the Veranos del Taoro Festival today at 10:00 p.m. with the performance of Darwin’s Smile at the Espacio Laurel de Indias. Following her, Rubén de Eguía will present ‘En medio de tanto fuego’ on Wednesday at 9:00 p.m., an epic poem opposing war and advocating for freedom and love, centred around the figure of Patroclus.
Isabella Rossellini, Rubén de Eguía, along with Delirium Teatro and the Nido project, participated in a technical visit at La Sortija Park earlier today. This visit was also attended by Loro Parque’s president and the Loro Parque Group’s Administration director, Wolfgang Kiessling and Cybell Kiessling.
They witnessed the transformation of the park into an open-air theatre. The artists also planted various botanical species of palm trees near the Espacio Laurel de Indias, in collaboration with the Puerto de la Cruz City Council.
International actress and model, Isabella Rossellini, expressed her previous experience performing in unconventional venues in Germany and Italy and mentioned that such performances are both challenging and magical.
Rubén de Eguía expressed his excitement to perform ‘En medio de tanto fuego’ at Laurel de Indias due to the space offering another layer of dialogue with the text. Delirium Teatro, Soraya González del Rosario and Severiano García highlighted the unique nature of the Anglican Church within La Sortija Park for their performance ‘La inmortalidad’, seeing it as a profound experience.
Puerto de la Cruz Mayor, Marco González, lauded the collaboration between public and private entities for this festival, which enhances the municipality’s global presence and provides an exceptional programme of performing arts within the Archipelago. Festival Director, Enrique Camacho, expressed the hope of presenting the first proprietary production of Veranos del Taoro next year.
Veranos del Taoro has revamped the Parque de La Sortija (Taoro Park) in Puerto de la Cruz to feature performances by Héctor Alterio; Silvia Marsó and Abel Folk; Mastodonte; Petite Lorena; Lamine Thior; Chipie La Canalla; Solo Palique; Delirium Teatro; Carmen Fumero and Dácil González; Daniel Abreu; Teresa Lorenzo; Truca Circus, and the community dance show Nido. Additionally, there is a Gastro Zone, a Market of local products, and a cetacean exhibition. Tickets for shows are available on Tomaticket.es, with the box office opening two hours before the shows start and the doors opening an hour in advance.
PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS
Only Palique On Tour will entertain the audience at Espacio Arboleda on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., offering their trademark mischievous charm in this live show.
On Thursday, 8 August at 10:00 p.m., the audience can enjoy Héctor Alterio’s intimate performance, ‘A Little Story’. At 94 years old, Alterio will embark on a journey between Buenos Aires and Madrid, sharing a recital of emotions and experiences from his arrival in Spain in 1974 to present the film La tregua and his inability to return to Buenos Aires.
La Palma comedian, Petite Lorena, will present her humour at the Arboleda stage on Thursday at 8:00 pm with a show titled ‘Tremenda’, promising an unconventional and politically incorrect monologue inspired by grandmothers’ oral tradition.
The free programme at Espacio Iglesia will commence on Thursday at 6:00 pm with Laura Marrero’s community dance project, ‘Nido’, engaging collectives from Puerto de la Cruz in a dance piece inspired by the city’s geography and history. The municipal band will also be part of Nido.
At 6:30 pm, the audience can also enjoy Teresa Lorenzo’s production ‘El Jardín’ for free. This dancer and dance teacher will immerse the audience in the sensory world and its connection to nature using poetic body language.
