The Tenerife Fire Prevention and Extinction and Rescue Consortium has successfully controlled a fire in a residence and a plant nursery in the Samarines area, Güímar municipality. The incident began in the early hours of Tuesday 6th August, affecting a house and a storage facility with plants. Efforts were focused on preventing the fire from spreading to the main storage area, which housed flammable materials such as phytosanitary products and different fuels.
The Cabildo reported that seven units from the Tenerife Fire Brigade Consortium, comprising a total of 31 personnel, were swiftly deployed in the morning. They are currently on-site, working to avert further outbreaks and secure the structures impacted by the fire.
The fire damaged a residence and an adjoining storage facility containing solar panels, batteries, and irrigation hoses. It also disrupted a medium-voltage power line, leading to a temporary power outage in Puertito de Güímar. Endesa technicians have already restored the electricity supply in the affected area.
The Minister for the Environment, Sustainability, Security and Emergencies, Blanca Pérez; the island’s Security and Emergency Director, Iván Martín; and Güímar’s Mayor, Gustavo Pérez, visited the site to oversee the extinguishing operations. Various police units from the Civil Guard and Local Police, Civil Protection personnel, and Güímar’s Volunteer Firefighters also actively participated in managing the emergency.
