SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 6 Aug (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Fire Prevention, Extinction, and Rescue Consortium of Tenerife, which falls under the Cabildo’s jurisdiction, successfully managed a fire incident that occurred at a residence and a plant nursery situated in the Samarines district of the Güímar municipality. The blaze commenced early on Tuesday and impacted a home and a storage facility housing plants. The priority was to prevent the fire from spreading to the main storage area, where flammable materials like phytosanitary products and various fuels were stored.
Seven units from the Tenerife Fire Brigade Consortium and a team of 31 personnel were deployed in the early hours. The Councillor for Environment, Sustainability, Security, and Emergencies, Blanca Pérez, along with the island’s Director of Security and Emergencies, Iván Martín, and Güímar’s mayor, Gustavo Pérez, also visited the site to oversee the firefighting efforts. Resources from the Civil Guard, Local Police, Civil Protection, and Volunteer Firefighters of Güímar were involved in addressing the emergency.
The fire impacted a residence and an adjacent storage facility containing solar panels, storage batteries, and irrigation hoses. It also affected a medium-voltage power line, leading to a temporary power outage in the Puertito de Güímar area. Endesa personnel have since restored the electricity supply. The Fire Consortium personnel are actively working in the vicinity to prevent any reoccurrences and to secure the buildings affected by the fire.
